In less than two months close to 20,000 guests will gather in central Illinois for top tier music, love, alternative states of consciousness, and the pursuit of happiness. This past Friday, March 28 the Summer Camp Music Festival released their 3rd round of artist additions.

Girl Talk, also known as Gregg Gillis from Pittsburg, PA will be joining the party in Chillicothe. In 2009, GT threw a hellacious bash on the Sunshine Stage at Summer Camp. Stop by his set this year for a rundown on the shakedown.

Blues Traveler

Blue Traveler, a New York City group with over 25 years of foot-stomping experience. This will mark the first time the band has played at the Summer Camp Music Festival. It is one of the bands that I have been waiting on for years to get added to the lineup. In 2003, I was able to witness Jon Popper guest spot with Moe. on two tracks at a music event in Tennessee. If I were a betting man, I would put money on Jon Popper stopping by the main stage during a Moe. set throughout the weekend.

Matisyahu "AKEDA"

Matisyahu “AKEDA”

Matisyahu

Matisyahu, an American singer/songwriter with a new album titled “AKEDA” coming out in early June. The Summer Camp Music Festival will host as a perfect opportunity for fans to get a crack at his new music before the release.

His last release, “Spark Speaker” went to number 1 in the charts for Reggae Music. Matisyahu delivers such a unique performance, it is one not to miss this May in Chillicothe, Illinois. Look for his live band to take over the Moonshine or Sunshine stage during the mid-afternoon.

G. Love and the Special Sauce

G. Love and the Special Sauce

G. Love and the Special Sauce is set to release “Sugar” this April. The band has been on a rolling stone for most of 2014, and has an extensive tour in the works with Slightly Stoopid, and Steven Marley for the summer.

Garrett and the crew always pack a beautiful crowd for their Summer Camp sets of music. Regardless if it is raining, sunny, windy or freezing, G. Love and the Special Sauce will be ready to turn on audiences all over the country. Pre-Order “Sugar” today through the band’s main website.

Everyone Orchestra

Everyone Orchestra

The Everyone Orchestra

Everyone Orchestra, featuring Matt Butler is one of the top shows on our must-see list for the Summer Camp Music Festival. The unofficial superjam is one of the best kept secrets of the festival. The festival organizers usually put together an interactive game to gain access to the live performance. While some may think the goals of the interactive games are too much, it really only takes a short amount of time, and I found myself enjoying most of the requirements for the scavenger hunt. This year the festival organizers may open up their set to an outdoor stage, but I find it smart to keep it in the Red Barn in case of a rainy day.

The thrill of watching the Everyone Orchestra is finding out which performers that Butler will put together for the special concert. Make sure to get involved this year at Summer Camp. The reward is sometimes greater than the effort.

The M Machine (Live)

Tune into the latest by The M Machine titled ‘Superflat’ streaming via their Soundcloud page. After giving them a listen for the first time, it is evident that they will be hosting a wild set of live/electronica music at Summer Camp. Their production value is above par, and this act is a heat seeking act to pick up on as soon as possible.

Victor Wooten Band

Victor Wooten is set to perform with his live band this year at Summer Camp. Occasionally Wooten will host a Nature and Bass Workshop in the Soulshine Tent. Last May, we were able to film and publish most of the workshop on YouTube. The videos have gone on to be the highest viewed short films published from the Summer Camp Music Festival. Watch and enjoy his set from the 2013 event.

Blackberry Smoke

Blackberry Smoke, is based out of Atlanta, and has been together since 2000. Their sound compares to The Black Crowes with a little “skunk country”. The Zac Brown Band could also be put in the “skunk country” category. Both acts may fool mainstream audiences, but they know how to put on a full figured show.

The Wood Brothers

Chris and Oliver Wood, along with Jano Rix on drum makeup The Wood Brothers. Their latest work, “Muse” is an unspoiled and polished piece of material that reminds listeners that soul music with acoustic guitars is not dead, but alive and well.

Our good friends with The Ragbirds, Van Ghost, SPREAD and Spare Parts will be hosting hot sets. Be on the look out for additional acts featured in the 3rd Round Announcement closer to the festival.
