Supreme Court, votes that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right under law.

The Supreme Court rules today in favor in a vote 5-to-4 vote that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.
This decision shows the support from the federal government in providing equal rights to gay marriage. The political environment has been rapidly changing after decades of traditional ideologies.

Justice Kennedy was the author of all three of the Supreme Court’s previous gay rights landmarks. The latest decision came exactly two years after his majority opinion in United States v. Windsor, which struck down a federal law denying benefits to married same-sex couples, and exactly 12 years after his majority opinion in Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down laws making gay sex a crime.

On another side, this decision reverses the ideology that has banned same-sex marriage in 13 states.
