Amazon announced last week that they will be expanding services in several metropolitan areas. The company has noted that they will offer faster delivery for Prime members, as well as expanding to new areas of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Larger cities with more infrastructure have seen rapid advancements with delivery services from Amazon.

Prime members shopping on Amazon.com can choose from more than a million items available for same-day delivery including: popular electronics, toys, movies, video games, home and kitchen supplies, everyday essentials and additional products.

Members with Amazon Prime can download the app, available on iOS and Android devices, and shop online.

In San Antonio, Prime Now is available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Online shoppers can pick up two-hour delivery for free, and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99.

Amazon Prime Shipping

Since the Prime FREE Same-Day program launched in May, members have ordered millions of different items including:

• Among the most popular same-day delivery items nationwide are the Fire TV Stick, Crest 3D White Luxe Strips, and Optimum Nutrition chocolate-flavored protein powder.
• Locally popular same-day purchases include water filters in New York City, inflatable water toys in Atlanta, and bicycle locks in San Francisco.
• Members have ordered more than 3,500 different board game titles and over 3,500 varieties of pet treats with Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery.
• A Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator was the 2^nd-most popular same-day item nationwide in the first week of September, following the most popular item the Fitbit Charge Activity Wristband.
• Popular Oktoberfest supplies ordered same-day include Bavarian-themed table covers, home brewing kits and Lederhosen outfits.

With Amazon Prime providing shipping services to residents in large cities, this seems to be developing a trend to shop local, as well as with major outlets. The services Amazon Prime is providing will continue to make prices even more competitive with a range of options to choose from with a click of a button.

Online shopping has seen increases during the holiday shopping season for the past three years. Last week, Amazon announced that they will be hiring over 100,000 seasonal jobs.

Environmentally Friendly Packaging
Most Amazon.com orders are shipped in corrugated containers which on average contain 43% recovered fiber content. Once used, these containers are 100% recyclable for use in the manufacture of other paper products.

In Amazon’s U.S. fulfillment centers that primarily ship larger products such as televisions, kitchen appliances, and other household items, we’ve introduced paper packing materials that are 100% recyclable and are made from 50% recycled content.

The air-filled pillows that are sometimes used to protect items in Amazon shipments are 100% recyclable and non-toxic. If a customer cannot reuse or recycle these cushions, they can be deflated and disposed of. Deflated air cushions take up less than 1% of their inflated volume.
