A New Era of Jazz Rolls Out in 2016

Marco Benevento just released a video for ‘Dropkick’ off his new studio album, The Story of Fred Short, out April 1 on Royal Potato Family.

Benevento unleashes a drum and bass setup to mesh with his keyboards on ‘Dropkick.’ Watch the video below, and scan over his US Spring tour dates.

In the video by Jonathan Leder, has Amy Hood wheeling a gun in some of the scenes. It is not used in the video, but I do want to make the note that it has no purpose to the film, and looks like a cheap prop. On a positive note, using a mascot head was amusing to a degree.

During the month of April, Benevento will be performing late night at The Maple Leaf in New Orleans during the first weekend of Jazz Fest. Late night sets in New Orleans are always rich in music history.

His management has noted that the band is comprised with Dave Dreiwitz on bass (Ween) and Andy Borger on drums (Tom Waits, Norah Jones).

This project is only Marco’s second time singing on one of his albums. This marks the first time he’s added guitars on his original songs (recorded by friend and former bandmate, Brad Barr of The Barr Brothers/The Slip).
