The Iowa Caucus is a good barometer to gauge the political makeup of the candidates running for president of the United States. It also shows the direction that Iowa voters are headed in before the election.

NPR reported that how the Iowa Caucus narrows the field for elections. Martin O’Malley and Mike Huckabee decided to bow out of the race.

The Democrats now have a one-on-one competition moving forward for the next 10 months. This is a huge opportunity for Sanders and Clinton to acquire his voters to secure support.

Republicans witnessed a disruption in their party as well. After months of Donald Trump leading in national polls, Ted Cruz comes up with a major win in Iowa.

Cruz’s win is a defining moment in politics.

The people have spoke in Iowa, and their support for a politician with plans and policy reform shows the interest in the issues, and not the sensationalism of reality television. That step forward, along with the ability to communicate on social media, has made real change.

Republicans in Iowa turned out in record numbers for the 2016 Iowa Caucus.

NPR also stated that: “The IDP said Clinton received 699.57 state delegate equivalents, to Sanders’ 695.49. There are currently 2.28 delegate equivalents still outstanding, not enough for Sanders to make up the difference. There is no mechanism for a recount.” – Ron Elving

The next political event on the campaign trail is The New Hampshire Primary on Tuesday, February 9. Watch coverage from Iowa with The New York Times.
