Written by: Matthew McGuire

The Lockn’ Music Festival is set to return to Arrington, Virginia this upcoming September 10-13. Last year, the event hosted two nights of Phil Lesh with Friends, the String Cheese Incident, and Widespread Panic. The top three are returning this year, as well as some new acts to spice up the lineup.

Galactic and Soulive are heating up the jazz scene at Lockn’ on Thursday. These acts have been known to mix it up on stage together, and might collaborate at the festival.

Thursday also hosts a special set of music with The Doobie Brothers and the String Cheese Incident. The Lockn’ Festival continues its historic jam sessions on stage with this unique performance. Bill Kreutzmann is hitting the stage with: Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic), Tom Hamilton (American Babies), Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) and Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits).

Each night the festival features sets of unprecedented concerts with musicians such as the ‘Mad Dogs & Englishmen’ A Tribute To Joe Cocker featuring: Tedeschi Trucks Band, with special guests Leon Russell, Dave Mason, Rita Coolidge, Chris Robinson, Doyle Bramhall II and friends on Friday evening.

Two more rockers from the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame will be on hand Friday night as Jefferson Airplane unites at the Lockn’ Music Festival. Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady will be live on stage with Jefferson Airplane.

Phil Lesh and Friends will be performing on Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday evening, Carlos Santana will join the group, with Warren Haynes, Barry Sless, Rob Barraco and John Molo.
