NPR is currently hosting a live stream to preview and experience Ben Folds latest material featuring yMusic. Stream So There and pick up the album this Friday, September 11.

The group performed this past June at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, as well as various concerts around the country.

After experiencing and meeting yMusic at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, I could tell their ability to adapt to new soundscapes was inthralling. They capture the emotional sense behind Folds work, and gives this project additional character and detail.

NPR notes that So There opens with eight new songs written and arranged in tandem with yMusic. In addition, there is Folds’ “Concerto For Piano And Orchestra,” a three-movement work co-commissioned by the Nashville Ballet and the Minnesota Orchestra, premiered by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra in 2014, and later recorded at Folds’ studio, led by conductor Giancarlo Guerrero.
