The Seattle-based company, Amazon announced today that Spotify Premium subscribers in the U.S. will now be able to stream their music via Amazon Echo.
Alexa, also known as Amazon Echo, can play any playlist, artist, genre and more from Spotify’s catalog.
“We’re extremely pleased that Spotify Premium subscribers can now listen to their favorite music on Amazon Echo,” said Ian Geller, Global Head of Hardware at Spotify. “Creating innovative experiences is core to our mission. We know our users will love controlling music with their voice at home.”
Amazon is now offering listeners with the subscribed service access to their Spotify library. If you look below at the tweets from Amazon Echo; one can see where a Twitter user requests that Amazon Echo connects with Spotify.

“Now playing your favorite music from Spotify is as easy as asking Alexa,” said Toni Reid, Director, Amazon Alexa. “Music is one of the most popular features on Amazon Echo, and Spotify has been one of the most requested services, so we’re excited to bring it to our customers today.”
This merger is a healthy step forward from Spotify. The New York Times has reported that Spotify generated a net loss of $197 million over 2014. Their 2015 financial results will be revealed later this year.
Amazon’s stock is also showing signs of regression. InvestorPlace reported that the company is down over %20 since the beginning of the year, but its fourth quarter earnings were still more than double that of the year before.
In business, major companies will have ups and downs financially. As consumers, it is our decision which company we want to invest in on a regular basis.
As the technology sector continues to encounter more competition in the marketplace, the companies that want to connect with customers will need to provide products and software that integrate with one another.
