Super Bowl 50 concluded with the Denver Broncos beating the Carolina Panthers 24-10. The event was held in Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 7 in Santa Clara, California.

The Denver Post reported that Super Bowl 50 drew the second largest rating percentage for a NFL championship game telecast ever among metered markets. They noted that CBS Sunday drew a 49 rating, 73 share, according to Nielsen. That means that 73% of the people watching television on that night were viewing the Super Bowl.

The last time the number for the Super Bowl were this high, was for the 1995 event. Even though people may be cutting the cord on cable, the numbers this year are a good sign for CBS.

The Super Bowl 50 Halftime show featured a live performance featuring: Chris Martin of Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. During the halftime show the group of pop stars supported Global Citizen, the organization committed to ending extreme poverty by 2030.

Chris Martin reunited with Beyoncé, a fellow 2015 Global Citizen Festival headliner/Chime for Change cofounder, who is dedicated to women and girls’ equality.

The show itself had its high and low moments, but the underlying support for climate change and equality is another step in the right direction for the environment.
