Preservation Hall Presents: The Soul Shakedown
The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival just announced their soul music and bluegrass Superjams featuring the Preservation Hall Jazz Band (late night soul music) and Ed Helm (daytime bluegrass).
Heads up, here is your spoiler alert:
Dave Grohl, lead singer of the Foo Fighters, has not been officially confirmed for the Bonnaroo Superjam, but the Foo Fighters have left that weekend open during their summer tour. In addition, Bonnaroo has noted additional artists will share the stage.
Jon Batiste, Members of The Head and the Heart, Sam Cohen, George Porter Jr., Lecrae, Margo Price, Tank And The Bangas, Lukas Nelson, Nicole Atkins, Flint Eastwood, and more special guests.
That being said, there is a good chance that Grohl could take his time off, and relax before touring internationally.
Bonnaroo 2017 will once again host a bluegrass Superjam with The Bryan Sutton Band, Martina McBride, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Greensky Bluegrass, Mandolin Orange, River Whyless, Gaby Moreno, Baskery, Lillie Mae, and additional musicians.
The festival announced announced interactive art projects including:
Music Box Village, by The Airlift Collective, is a place where collaboration and community come together with artist-made, interactive “musical houses.” Located near Pod 10, come explore the edge of the campground and experience some cool musical architecture.
Bonnaroo Open Mic, Wanna sing or play on The Farm? Stop by The Grind in pod 7 for late night karaoke, or drop in for an open mic set during the day. You can even join in our new Fan SuperJam – practice at The Grind 12pm Fri & Sat and show on Sunday 12pm. All are welcome.
These interactive projects also give new life to the camping area of the festival. Personally, I would walk from my pod to the main stage area, and rarely take time to explore the other campsites. With the interactive art installations being setup near the different camping pods, it will spread out the attendees.
Portugal. The Man has a new album coming out on June 15 titled Woodstock. Stream a remix track featuring ‘Feel It Still’ by Flatbush Zombies on YouTube.
