MTV is hosting Movie & TV Awards this evening from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The entertainment kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. EST with performances by Zara Larsson, All Time Low and Bea Miller streaming live on YouTube. Guests can scope out the Pre-Show on our main website.

MTV will be releasing a clip of the upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming that will be out in theaters starting July 7. In addition, Mark Wahlberg is bringing an exclusive sneak of Transformers: The Last Knight with him to the #MTVAwards. 

These two films show a trend in the film industry of creating and promoting sequel-based action films that use violence as a cheap form of entertainment. I do not support either of these films.

MTV has reported:

‘In addition to some of our favorites like ‘Movie of the Year’ and ‘Best Kiss’, we’ve also added two brand-new categories: ‘Trending’ and ‘Best Musical Moment.’ You can vote for ‘Trending’ on movietvawards.mtv.com, while voting for ‘Best Musical Moment’ will take place exclusively on musical.ly.’
