The Concept Album Sounds Like the Velvet Underground Took A Trip to Italy and Brought Along Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

One of the hottest indie albums to emerge from the end of 2017 is known as Milano from Daniele Luppi and company.

Several of the tracks have vocals from the talented Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It delivers a strong indie rock sound with plenty of underground flavor from Los Angeles and New York City.

The downtempo sound creates a mellow listening experience. The New York rockers known as Parquet Courts is composed of vocalist Andrew Savage, guitarist Austin Brown, bassist Sean Yeaton, and drummer Max Savage. They provide a grungy form of indie rock that layers well with Karen O’s vocals.

‘Talisa’ strips down the pop side of Karen O and delivers a garage rock sound.

The alternative production style from Daniele Luppi is felt on each track. It resonated well with indie rock listeners. Italy has several well known fashion designers, and it is refreshing to hear a musician/producer come from another part of the world and collaborate with musicians from the United States.
