The Catcher Was a Spy, Blindspotting, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, and Masters Of The Sun Make Waves at Sundance 2018

The Sundance Film Festival has just wrapped the first weekend of film screening, and several big moments have taken place in Park City, Utah.

In addition to the independent film being released at the festival, this year has also seen a major trend in empowering women from all over the globe.

On Saturday, January 20 the second annual Women’s March took place throughout the Sundance Film Festival. Last year at Sundance women and men protested and raised their independent voices in the streets. The protest continued this year in the snow across cities in Utah.

Wildlife, starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal was a big hit during the first weekend.

Blindspotting was another film that provided a unique look at race. The directors of the film Carlos Lopez Estrada, Rafael Casa, and Daveed Diggs brought out connections between music and multiracial topics.

In regards to week two at Sundance 2018, I find that The New Climate panel taking place on Tuesday, January 23 will be a highlight of the festival for live discussions.
