The Best Teef in the Game Tour Arrived to Morrison, Colorado on June 14

Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals delivered big in Colorado on Friday, June 14 with one performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and another late night show at Cervante’s Ballroom featuring the Free Nationals along with special guests.

This summer Anderson Paak and company will be touring across the United States with sold out performances at legendary venues such as Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks, and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Anderson Paak released the album Ventura in April 2019. This tour featured tracks from that new album, as well as classic music from the group’s catalog. Paak is often smiling with a large joyful grin on stage, and the tour name of #BestTeefInTheGameTour is fitting and accurate.

Earl Sweatshirt, a Los Angeles-based lyricist, opened the show with an overcast above the venue. This helped prevent the sun draining the energy from the audience, and kept people lively throughout the evening.

Red Rocks was packed with audiences members between the two three-hundred foot sandstone monoliths. Before one of the sets, I started talking with one of the security guards about the attendance capacity for the venue. He noted, along with the Denver Post, that Red Rocks provides 8,700 sets, and the total amount of guests it can hold is 9,525.

Thundercat brought a flavor from Los Angeles to Denver on Friday evening. His use of rap and spoken word was original and thought-provoking. The crowd soaked in the California-based music all night.

Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals started their set with a soulful trumpet solo. The crowd instantly lit up for the group on stage. This tour the band has been starting off with ‘Heart Don’t Stand A Chance’ and continued the high energy for a packed set, and a three song encore.

It marked my third time seeing the band live on stage. Each tour has had a distinct vibe and tone.
