Guests Packed the Venue to Experience a Night of Reggae, Ska, and California Rock

The Dirty Heads returned to Red Rocks in grand fashion on Tuesday, July 9 to perform to a full house in Morrison, Colorado. The Interrupters, The Dreamers, and Bikini Trill opened the show.

Clear skies provided additional heat to the summer evening concert. The vibe of the evening highlighted Southern California and the variety of music genres from each band.

One of the guests in my group had a birthday on the day of the event. He had seen the Dirty Heads at Red Rocks two years prior and knew the words to most of the songs.

The Interrupters have recently broke onto major radio stations across the country with their hit song ‘She’s Kerosene.’ The band has strapped a jet pack on and has been touring heavy since 2018. Their opening set on Tuesday evening was upbeat and engaging. The band performed ‘Family’ and then ended their set with ‘She’s Kerosene.’

A mix of a younger demographic sung and danced along with The Interrupters. It provided a blend of generations at the show to mix it up with the older crowd there for the Dirty Heads.

The night sky was clear and the air was delightfully warm during the start of the Dirty Heads concert.

Dirty Heads opened their show with ‘Slow Burn.’ The light show they have for this tour displayed large screens that projected flames in connection with a pair of drum solos. It was powerful and brought the heat right away to the crowd at Red Rocks.

During their set the performed classic tracks like ‘My Sweet Summer,’ ‘Medusa,’ and ‘Sloth’s Revenge.’ The band also busted out new tracks from their upcoming album with the self-titled track ‘Super Moon’ and also the recently released track ‘Lift Me Up.’

Super Moon will be released on Five Seven Records on August 9. The album was produced and polished by Dave Cobb.
