The St. Mary’s Strip was buzzing this past Sunday night as Chaparelle made their highly anticipated stop at the Paper Tiger. On a warm and pleasant Sunday evening, the venue was packed with fans eager to witness the band’s signature high-energy performance, and they did not disappoint.

The night kicked off with a stellar opening set by San Antonio’s own Caroline Hale. Hale, a local favorite, set the perfect tone for the evening with her soulful vocals and commanding stage presence, proving once again why she is a rising star in the Texas music scene.

As the house lights dimmed for the main event, Chaparelle took the stage under a wash of purple light. Working through a tight, 14-song setlist, the band leaned into their raw rock-and-roll roots. Highlights of the night included a thunderous rendition of  ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ and the groove-heavy ‘Shakin’ which closed out the night and left the crowd chanting for more.

While Chaparelle held court in the main room, the venue’s second stage featured a double-header of grit and volume. Fellow rock groups My Point of You and At First At First performed to a packed crowd in the adjacent room, creating a multi-layered festival atmosphere that showcased the diversity of the current rock landscape.

For those in attendance, it was a night that solidified Chaparelle’s reputation as one of the most exciting live acts on the road today. They performed tracks from the album Western Pleasure. As the tour continues, San Antonio fans are already looking forward to the next time the band rolls back into the Alamo City.

The band is performing on NYE in their hometown of Austin, Texas.
