Promised Land Sound carries a bold style of Nashville roots music with their upcoming release titled For Use And Delight on Paradise of Bachelors Records on Friday, October 2.

‘Otherworldly Pleasures’ grabbed my attention and showcased an acoustic/electric mix of downtempo rock that reminded me of the Weezer in the ’90s. The band has two guitar players that mirror each other well on this album.

The backstory behind the band features bassist and singer Joey Scala and his younger brother Evan (drums and vocals) originally hailing from Roanoke, Virginia but moved to Tennessee in 2000.

Sean Thompson, a Nashville native linked up with the group, and they started putting music together. The lineup for For Use And Delight also features: Peter Stringer-Hye (The Paperhead) on additional vocals and rhythm guitar and polymath Mitch Jones (Fly Golden Eagle) on keyboards, as well as handling co-production and string arrangements on the record.

The sound of the album contains the roots soul from Virginia, and mixes it with the polished audio production from Nashville. It has a peaceful way of catching an ear, and holding onto the audience for a special journey into modern southern rock.
