The 44th American Music Awards was held on November 20, 2016 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Ariana Grande performs with Nicki Minaj at the 2016 American Music Awards. The two vocalists tore up the stage with their steamy track ‘Side to Side’ live from the AMAs.

Watch the performance of The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey below. During my first viewing of the song I got board with the voice over work in comparison to their live vocals from the VMAs. Even though the VMA performance with live vocals was received with mixed reactions, it was still more engaging to me. For the AMA performance, Halsey does sound like she is using some layered live vocals, but to be honest, I didn’t get through the video the first watching it.

During my second viewing of ‘Closer’ from the AMAs I got chills from the remix and guest spot from Travis Barker, drummer from Blink 182. It was my first time hearing the song remixed with the professional drumming of Barker. The time mark at when Barker enters the song is at 2:50. Halsey’s reference to Blink 182 in ‘Closer’ is a nice touch when selecting Barker to guest spot.
