During their 20th Year Anniversary the Band Releases their Eleventh Studio Album
Umphrey’s McGee continues to steamroll the independent music industry with their eleventh studio album titled it’s not us on Nothing Too Fancy Music.
The album was first previewed with two songs on vinyl in 2017 on Record Store Day Black Friday. I picked up the buzzsaw cut, and found the songs ‘Looks’ and ‘The Silent Type’ to be refined pieces of material from the band.
They would slowly showcase additional songs with a live audience.
This album marks their eleventh studio project, and was recorded at I.V. Labs Studio in Chicago.
In 2014, Umphrey’s McGee released two albums with Similar Skin and The London Sessions. The recording location on these two albums were unique with Similar Skin being recorded at I.V. Labs Studio, and The London Sessions being recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
The band returned to Chicago to produce it’s not us in November of 2016. After working on the audio production side, they have officially released the album in 2018. Joel Cummins, keyboardist for Umphrey’s McGee, shares insight on the recording process.

The songs on this album reflect the maturity of a band working together for 20 years. The music still has the intensity that they bring to their live shows, but also provides a feeling of refinement in production.
The album is currently available to pick up and preview on streaming music services, grab physical copies on their main website, as well as on digital outlets.
