Oscar and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham is officially ending a seven-year full-length hiatus. Ryan Bingham recently announced his highly anticipated new album, They Call Us The Lucky Ones, set for release on May 15 via The Bingham Recording Co./Thirty Tigers.
The announcement comes alongside the release of the soulful new single, “Ballad of The Texas Gentlemen,” a track that serves as a tribute to the organic brotherhood Bingham found with his backing band.
A Natural Evolution: From Solo Act to Bandleader
For Bingham whose rugged path took him from the rodeo circuits of Texas to the heights of Hollywood, this project marks a shift in perspective. After years of performing with The Texas Gentlemen, the transition from “solo artist with a backing band” to a cohesive unit happened almost by accident.
”I realized somewhere along the way I was part of a band again without really planning it,” Bingham shares. “‘Ballad of The Texas Gentlemen’ really came out of that moment—just being back out on the road with people you trust and remembering why you fell in love with playing music in the first place.”
The album was tracked mostly live with minimal overdubs, aiming to capture a “loose, live, and gritty” sound. This approach leans into the strengths of the band, which includes Ryan Ake (guitars), Daniel Creamer (keys), Paul Grass (drums), and Scott Lee (bass), with additional contributions from Richard Bowden and Cody Huggins.
Breaking the Seven-Year Silence
Since his last full-length project, Bingham has kept busy, notably starring as “Walker” on the hit series Yellowstone, launching his own bourbon brand, and releasing the 2023 EP Watch Out For The Wolf. However, They Call Us The Lucky Ones represents his most significant musical statement in years.
Across 10 tracks, the album explores the dichotomy of the traveling musician: the grueling “lows” of the road contrasted with a newfound sense of joy. The record follows previously released singles “The Lucky Ones” and “Americana,” cementing Bingham’s status as a premier voice in the genre-defying Americana space.
”Still Gettin’ Away With It” Tour Itinerary
To support the release, Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen are hitting the road this spring. Fans can expect high-energy sets at iconic venues across the East Coast and beyond.
