The Black Cadillacs continue to break new ground from their home base out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Their set paired well with the midday heat on Saturday. There is special moments to have at all events, but when a talented group of musicians showcase their work to a large new audience it delivers a unique essence to the area. The band played old and new material during their set.
Afterwards Will, Matthew and John spoke with us about their first Hangout Festival experience, how they method to making music and future plans in a brief interview.

NEEDTOBREATHE broke out the hard-hitting rock on the Hangout Stage after The Black Cadillacs performance. Both of their sets showcased two hot up-and-coming acts to keep an eye out in the indie rock music scene.
ALO casted away on the Palladia Stage midday afternoon on Saturday. The band is based out of the Bay area in California, and has grown a considerable following over the years playing on the road and in the studio.
The Animal Liberation Orchestra has a history of songs and stories behind their work. The Soundcloud clip features Zach giving subtext to the track ‘Kolomana’ prior to performing the song on stage. One of the beautiful things about this band is the rich history they provide, and if the audience listens closely they will notice all the nuances in their sound.
A sample of the songs performed on Saturday include: Sounds Like This, Falling Dominoes, Walls of Jericho, Plastic Bubble, Kolomana > The Tears for Fears cover on ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’
Best gig ever. – Zach Gill
The Lonely Biscuits, Tommy Trash and Amos Lee were all performing completely unique sets of music on different stages on Saturday. After reapplying another layer of sunshine, I made my way over to the Matt and Kim show on the Chevrolet Stage.

Matt and Kim unload as much high energy music as possible for each of their sets. Matt and Kim take thousands of spectators and put them on a roller coaster ride with plenty of scream out loud moments. Their bash at the beach was another testament to their spontaneous and fun style their bring to the table.
The crowd continue to roar for more as they stole the hearts and minds at the Chevrolet Stage. Kim twerked and crowd surfed all in one smooth motion. They both brought a level of entertainment that captivated the audiences imagination. They covered classic hip-hop songs to blend into their own original work. It fit well with the crowd at the event.

Modest Mouse ratted the bones of the crowd at the Hangout Stage with the earth-shaking bass effects in their songs. The group has been on the road for years, and has found new ways to excite the audiences around the globe. Their well-known material such as ‘Dashboard’ and ‘Float On’ were well received, as well as their newer songs.
After catching their massive set, I made my way to the Moon Taxi second set at the Red Bull Stage. Guests mentioned that their was an attendance cap for this stage area during the band’s first set that featured Rage Against the Machine’s “People of the Sun” album. The band played a second set to make up for Chance the Rapper’s absence at the festival. It could be an idea to give the band another slot in 2015 on a larger stage to comeback and deliver another knock out performance.
The Flaming Lips got weird on the Chevrolet Stage with their patient style of crazy. Fitz and the Tantrums closed down the Palladia Stage and the crowd picked up for the final two performances.

The Killers played a compact set of hits and classics that they have made a trademark for major music festivals. Their performance on Saturday night was playful and fun to watch. After catching some of their set, I made my way over to the Boom Boom Tent. Pretty Lights was working as a DJ for his set. The florescent spectacle added intensity to the set. Fans were grinding from the front to the back of the tent, with plenty of guests getting wild on West Beach Boulevard. After his set I retired for the evening.
