Most citizens of Jacksonville would tell you Halloween weekend marks the Florida-Georgia game, but I would say HULAWEEN BABY! As friends and loved ones started arriving for this monumental event on the Wednesday, October 30th, I was able to make my arrival after putting in a hard day at the office on Thursday.
We finally departed the city for a fun-filled long weekend at the one and only Spirit of Suwannee Music Park & Campground. When arriving late Thursday night we could hear that the pre-party was already hoppin’ with the highly anticipated, Particle.
We landed prime real estate right next to the bat house in the camping section. No time was wasted in setting-up our Hulaween weekend home. We had big tops, rugs, inflatable furniture, tents, Rocky Horror Picture lips, and comical signs. Ya know, only the necessities. We then christened our new home with a bottle of whiskey, of course. With all the enchanting sounds coming from the woods and lake, we had to explore. The woods were filled with strings of colors and mystery. The lake of spirit was outlined in the most beautiful shimmering lights.
Electron, featured Marc Brownstein, and Aron Magner, members of the Disco Biscuits. Mike Greenfield, drummer for Lotus, and Tom Hamilton of Brothers Past on guitar. It was raging the amphitheater into the early morning. Thursday night was an early sign of the monstrous amount of fun to be had during the festival.
