The Zika Virus is an infection that can cause birth defects, and can impair brain functionality for newborns with mothers infected with the virus. A large majority of reported cases of the Zika virus have been travel-related cases, such as a person traveling to Central and South America, and returning to the Untied States. The 14 locally-transmitted cases of the Zika virus have been reported near Miami, and in the Florida area.
