Bands on the Lookout at the 5th Annual Hangout
Words by Matthew McGuire
The 2014 Hangout Music Festival is presented by Chevrolet, and will be hosted this May 15-18 including a Thursday Pre-Party featuring Girl Talk, Wolfmother and many more. We want to help breakthrough the bands lower on the card that sometimes can be overlooked in a sea of music. Aidan Kennedy and David Elkin makeup Bagheera. These two DJs are based out of Houston, and have genuine passion to make good beats. Signed on Plik & Plok Records the duo have been turning dance halls into dance parties since January 2012. They recently performed at SXSW, and continue to move forward in 2014. Stream their jams via Soundcloud beforehand and join the gyrating madness in Gulf Shores, Alabama this May. The Lonely Biscuits, is a four piece that has developed a laid back rock sound that is reminiscent of G. Love and the Special Sauce and early Kings of Leon. The Biscuits are from Nashville, Tennessee. They also recently rocked out at SXSW down in Austin, Texas. Hangout Fest can be seen as a more compacted version of South by Southwest. Each band has the opportunity to crave their name in their own genre. Their carefree attitude will fit in perfectly with the Hangout crowd. heRobust also known as Hayden Kramer, is an electronic producer from Atlanta, Georgia. His work has pushed him to the top of the EDM scene. This summer he is booked heavily throughout the festival circuit. Stop by his set for an urban ass kicking that only goes down in Atlanta, GA. ALO return to Gulf Shores with fellow comrade Jack Johnson. The quartet is a California-based group that will be heroically coming back after their 2010 set. Steve Adams is on bass, David Brogan on drums, Zach Gill performs keys, uke, vocals and Dan Lebowitz is on guitar. They all have superhuman talents. Watch out for surprises on stage. Wild Belle is not just another band. They stand out within the indie scene in more than one way. Natalie Bergman and Elliot Bergman serve up a raw side of soul with their approach to live music. Bergman’s aggressive and sexy tone aids the vocals section of the group. Wild Belle produces a classic rock-esque sound on record. Their set will go well with the hot and sexy sun in the afternoon at Hangout. Pick up and find out new music to enjoy for a lifetime at the 5th Annual Hangout Music Festival. Get involved for the Thursday Pre-Party and start the massive weekend early. Book your hotel rooms now, availability will be harder to find closer to the event in mid May.
