Forecastle Music Festival

AC Entertainment & JK McKnight Host Forecastle 2014

WFPL Radio based in Louisville, Kentucky reported after the event last year the increase in attendance between the two years. The Forecastle Music Festival almost doubled in attendance from 2012 to 2013. There has not been a public release on expected attendance this year, but an estimated guess would be close to the size last year with an average of 25,000 guests per day.

OutKast to perform only US Show of July at Forecastle.

OutKast has been taking over the world with their 20th anniversary tour. The duo make their only US appearance of July this year with a stop on Friday, July 18. This also marks one of the only US shows remaining for their 2014 summer tour, (besides Lollapalooza). These two Atlanta musicians have picked up 6 grammy awards and sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

Forecastle Foundation supports international ecosystems.

Forecastle Foundation provides support to some of the worlds most remarkable places. These locations are also the most threatened. These are called “Hotspots,” coined by Norman Myers in 1988. They are the richest and most threatened reservoirs of plan and animal life on Earth. In 2010, JK McKnight was able to launch a sustainable branch to the festival with a new foundation to restore and preserve hotspots across the world. With each pass/ticket purchase, $1.00 will be donated to the Forecastle Foundation.

“BECOMING AN OARSMEN AND REMAINING AN ACTIVE MEMBER AT ANY LEVEL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WAY YOU CAN HELP US ACHIEVE OUR GOALS.”

Four time grammy award winners Nickel Creek celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2014.

After taking 7 years off, Nickel Creek  returns to the music scene with “A Dotted Line” and a handful of shows across the country. Their Forecastle set is a bucket-list set for any acoustic/folk rock music fan. The Tune-Yards perform around the same time as Nickel Creek during Forecastle. It will be a tough toss up between those two powder keg performances.
