SXSW is known for being the music mecca for breakthrough artists to showcase their art each year in Austin, Texas.

The term art has been redefined over the past few generations. Currently, we look at how interactive art plays into the South by South West festival this March 13-17. Review past videos from SXSW on their interactive portion of the festival below, as well as browse bands performing this year.

Next, we browse over the events that make up SXSW Interactive.

Media professional get ready for a ride of your life in Austin, Texas. After reviewing the 2015 schedule for the open discussions and speakers taking place at SXSW; it is clear that planning ahead is vital in order to successfully attend the event as a media producer.

  • SXSW Interactive is held from Friday, March 13 to Tuesday, March 17.
  • Each day there is over hundreds over events to select from catering to each designer.
  • On Friday, March 13 there is over 250 events schedule to take place covering interactive design in Austin from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Computer science engineers, artists, and designers can meet up and connect with one another.

SXSW Gaming Awards

Industry experts and SXSW Gaming staff have narrowed each category down to just five finalists after combing through hundreds of submissions in mainstream and indie titles. It’s now up to our community to help determine which titles are the best in 20 unique categories for this year’s show.

Startup Village, which launched at the 2012 SXSW Interactive Festival.

  • It consolidates all of the entrepreneur-related programming into one venue, the Hilton Downtown Austin, which is immediately across the street from the Austin Convention Center.
  • Startup Village is also the home of SXSW Accelerator, which is the startup competition that runs Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15, as well as a variety of panels, meet ups, special events, lounges, and activations.
  • Bottom line: If you are an entrepreneur, a startup, an investor, or just someone curious about this fascinating ecosystem, then Startup Village is a good spot to check out.

SXSW Music Startup Village also takes place in the Hilton Downtown Austin and brings together the startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and cutting-edge digital tastemakers from both the SXSW Music and SXSW Interactive festivals. SXSW Music badge holders can attend this program on Tuesday, March 17.

Convergence Day is held on Tuesday, March 17 and is a vital day for media producers to absorb when covering the event. There is times and moments during this day when artists from different sections of the industry, such as film, music and the Web, will come to meet at events that cater to a wide audience.

Entertainment & Immersion Content in Room 18ABCD
Running Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17, Room 18ABCD in the Austin Convention Center contains sessions that showcase the ever-increasing convergence between the Film, Interactive and Music industries with a special focus on the latest content and distribution technologies.

SXsports
This sports-focused convergence track takes place Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 at The Four Seasons Hotel (with some featured sessions in Ballroom D of the Austin Convention Center). Incorporating film screenings, panel elements and networking events, SXsports touches on all aspects of sports through the SXSW lens of culture, technology & innovation.

Future of TV
The Future of TV track of convergence sessions looks at the changing landscape of Television consumption, from the blossoming creativity of the content to the economic implications of how the content is consumed. What constitutes TV today? How will it continue to evolve? When is something no longer considered TV? Are these changes positive in the long run? All of these questions and more will be looked at in this convergence track of sessions. On Monday, March 16 & Tuesday, March 17, the Four Seasons will host the Future of TV track, with some affiliated sessions in Room 18ABCD & Ballroom D of the Austin Convention Center. (Also open to Music badgeholders)

Digital Domain
This track of convergence sessions highlights the projects and people on the boundary-pushing fringe of modern day storytelling. With a focus on experimental projects, the Digital Domainshowcases the new but possibly not yet fully realized directions that storytelling can take in the ever-evolving digital age. The Digital Domain runs Saturday, March 14 through Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the Austin Suite of the Austin Convention Center.

SXSW Comedy
From Saturday, March 14 through Tuesday, March 17, SXSW Comedy will include a handful of Conference sessions each afternoon featured as part of the Convergence programming in Room 18ABCD. Recent SXSW Comedy Conference participants include Seth Meyers, Marc Maron, Doug Benson, Pete Holmes, Jeffrey Tambor, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Additionally, each evening will feature a slate of of live comedy showcases, including stand-up, live podcast tapings, improv events and more.
