The Hangout Music Festival recently released their Thursday Kickoff Party lineup. This year the festival hosts: Matt & Kim, Grouplove, Lil Dicky, Big Freedia, Baauer, a masterful cover set with Moon Taxi returning as People of the Sun and Samo Sound Boy.

Moon Taxi transformed their set at the 2014 Hangout Music Festival to showcase acoustic instrumentation to Rage Against the Machine’s People of the Sun. Relix grabbed some behind the scenes footage with the band.

Matt and Kim will be making their return to sandy beaches in Gulf Shores for the Thursday event.

Downtown Gulf Shores shuts down sections of East and West Beach Boulevard, the festival builds multiple stages throughout the beachside area, and music connoisseurs connect to different genres of music. Each year creates a block party atmosphere, with the relaxation of being on the beach.

In 2014, Matt and Kim tore the stage down during their performance. When you look at the crowd for their 2014 set, it should be interesting to see the crowd for their headlining 2016 set on Thursday evening.

Matt and Kim take live shows serious. Watch this video with Hangout Music Festival coverage starting around the 1:50 & 2:50 marks. Catch the madness at during their set at the Hangout Music Festival 2016 Kickoff show.

Big Freedia – Y’all Get Back Now

New Orleans-based Big Freedia, will be making his debut on Thursday, May 19. Buzz continues to circle his unique style and form of music.
