Climate and weather patterns have shown a major influx in volatility over 2015. Greenhouse gases and pollution continue to reshape the environmental landscape. According the the World Metrological Organization:

“The state of the global climate in 2015 will make history as for a number of reasons,” said WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud. “Levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reached new highs and in the Northern hemisphere spring 2015 the three-month global average concentration of CO2 crossed the 400 parts per million barrier for the first time. 2015 is likely to be the hottest year on record, with ocean surface temperatures at the highest level since measurements began.  It is probable that the 1°C Celsius threshold will be crossed,” Mr. Jarraud said.

In an era of turbulent weather, it is key to plan ahead of storms, and to be properly prepared for extended periods of time. Each area of the globe will witness the effects of climate change in different ways. Coastal cities will continue to witness rising sea levels.

Cities in the Midwest have seen firsthand “Tornado Alley” move locations on a yearly average.

Traditionally, a majority of tornados took place in Kansas and Oklahoma in the US. As climate patterns shift, more and more tornados have been taking place further east in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas.

Across Europe, countries and individuals have been tackling climate change at different speeds. It is reminiscent to the Space Race between countries during the ’60s. The transition away from fossil fuels is creating opportunities for communities to empower their energy production protocol.
