33 Concerts From the East to the West Coast

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have joined together to take their joint partnership on the road for the High Road Summer Tour. They will perform 33 shows in 23 different states.

The tour concept includes an “out of this world” storyline with a script written by the Broadway sensation and Hamilton’s breakout star, actor/rapper Daveed Diggs. Diggs recently won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his dual roles in the musical phenomenon. Diggs’ storyline plays out throughout the concert experience through a series of vignettes that take fans on the road with Snoop and Wiz as they save the High Road Summer Tour.

The tour has 18 stops in locations where medical marijuana and/or recreational marijuana use is legal. The tour should note that some venues prohibit smoking in certain areas, such as under the pavilion in Illinois. My theory is that if you want to be recorded at a venue while smoking, and plan to have that substance on you when you leave, those guests are subjected to being targeted by police on their ride home, and could possibly be ticketed for driving under the influence.

I’m not being ‘paranoid’ on this topic. The Los Angeles Times recently reported that state officials proposed using new technology to catch the increasing number of motorists who are driving while high.

People that consume pot in states where it is legal should really start to look at it in a similar fashion to alcohol. Be smart, and don’t smoke/drink & drive. I want people to enjoy their time at live shows, but I also want to help protect their rights and personal health from being manipulated/endangered on the road.

The younger generation of 18-24 year olds show less dependency on drugs and alcohol compared to pervious generations. I attribute this to the Internet. The younger generation is noticing the pitfalls of consuming drugs overall. When I was growing up, there was no Internet to help inform me of the dangers behind smoking tobacco or drinking alcohol. There was advertisements for these substances everywhere. When I see younger kids at music events in this era, they just want to capture the moment on their smartphones. Which I am totally comfortable with, especially when you compare them to drugged out concert goers from past generations. It is also my theory that you can enjoy a show dead sober. You don’t have to get a buzz with a drug to enjoy the experience of live music. Physically live music can make life better without the use of a drug. That being said, I do also advocate for more research on the health benefits of marijuana.
