30 Tour Dates with Thriftworks, Magic Giant and Additional Acts

New Orleans funk is knocking on the door to Beats Antique, and the Oakland trio is ready to open the door and ‘Let It All Go’ with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

When musical acts have joined forces with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band I have seen mixed reactions, but with the latest collaboration between both bands, I sincerely hope they get to share the stage together at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans at the end of October.

‘Let It All Go’ is one of the songs from Beats Antique upcoming album Shadowbox coming out October 5. The song and album both showcase the collaborative spirit that bridges cultural gaps. After seeing Beats Antique grow over the past five years, this album displays a sense of maturity in their music production.

Beats Antique goes straight to the source for additional depth in their sound, and I respect that a lot. They bring in lyricists and musicians that define their respective genres. To me, that is far more creative than sampling and remixing a random artist, and putting a standard bass beat to it.

As music consumers grow tired with the typical electronic music scene, they will be looking for alternative electronic dance music, very similar to how rock music evolved. And Beats Antique will be there to open the door across venues in the United States to give listeners a chance to catch the music live on stage with new material from Shadowbox ready to perform.

In the past, Beats Antique have collaborated with Les Claypool in the studio. Currently, I find that Beats Antique are one of the biggest risk takers in the entire music industry, and I appreciate their passion. Performing standard sets, and sticking to your guns might have worked last century, but it such a refreshing sign to see a band continue to push the creative boundaries later into their careers.
