SXSW Music 2017 has announced hundreds of international artists set to takeover downtown Austin during March 13-19. The biggest addition, and hottest unknown act to blow up at SXSW 2017 is The Regrettes.
Among the artists recently announced, The Rumjacks from Australia, caught my attention with their Irish-influenced punk music.
The beautiful part of SXSW Music 2017 is the combination of international artists in one spot. The main goal of our media outlet is to bridge cultural gaps, and this event helps us shine the light on upcoming acts, as well as provide a medium for people from all over the world to come together and celebrate music, art and culture.
Skinny Girl Diet, a three piece from London, perform a raw form of indie rock. The group of female musicians picked a provocative band name, and their music reflects their rebellious attitude. Preview their material on Soundcloud.
In contrast to the aggressive sound of Skinny Girl Diet, Tkay Maidza, a pop vocalist, delivers a more soft and gentle form of music.
The Regrettes, a Los Angeles punk outfit, is no longer an unknown indie group, after signing a deal with Warner Bros. Records, and releasing their latest album Feel Your Feelings, Fool! last Friday. Their unique sound reflects the music from the band the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs with a more youthful approach.
“Friday the 13th is my lucky day,” she explains. “It all started when I was born on the first Friday the 13th of the millennium on a full moon in October. Pretty spooky shit. Ever since then, Friday the 13th and the 13th in general has always brought me wonderful days. I met Mike Elizondo on January 13th 2016 so to release our record on January 13th 2017 is SO COOL.“ – Lydia Night, The Regrettes
During the month of February The Regrettes will be touring spots in California leading up to their SXSW Music 2017 showcase.
