The Shorty Awards will present their 9th annual award show from the Playstation Theater on April 23.

This event will be streamed live on social networks. Check back for live stream updates via our site when it goes live Sunday evening at 6:30 EST.

Each year The Shortys host and present the top producers of social media with a collection of awards. This year the event will have Tony Hale, actor from Veep, host the ceremony.

Media producers on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and more will be present for the event. It is important to note that very few celebrities actually spend the time posting on their social media. A large majority of them pay publicists to do that work, and I feel that even though it helps rating having a celebrity walk on stage, I would still credit the people working behind the scenes. Personally, I would like to see the celebrities walk on stage with a paper bag over their head with their publicists name written on it.

Originally when I saw the name to this award show, I thought it was specialized for people with less physical height. The name is more of a play on words with social media using short clips of film and content.

After eight years, and this being their ninth, The Shortys continues to win over audience with comical moments on stage.
