X Games Relocates to Minneapolis After Three Big Years in Austin
X Games Minneapolis will heat up the northern section of the Midwest this upcoming July 13-16.
Extreme sporting competition will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium. The venue holds 73,000 people.
Music acts for Minneapolis include: A Day to Remember, Flume and Atmosphere.
In early March, X Games held international competition in Norway. This July the flat track is returning to Minneapolis at the Mall of America.
Racing has deep roots in the Minneapolis area. The Harley-Davidson Flat Track Racing at Mall of America connects to the history of the city.
“We believe that teaming up with the City of Minneapolis, Minneapolis Sports Facility Authority (MSFA), SMG and Meet Minneapolis and the truly impressive new, state-of-the-art U.S. Bank Stadium will provide an extraordinary opportunity to grow the X Games in a new region of the country and in a city that’s quickly becoming recognized as a premier sports and entertainment destination. It was a very competitive bid process and we feel privileged to have had such great interest and thank the multiple cities that participated in the process. Ultimately, the combination of resources, support, fit and passion from the Minneapolis team brought us here and we couldn’t be happier.” – Tim Reed, vice president, ESPN X Games
X Games will kick off the event with premiere racing on Thursday, July 13. Additionally, they noted:
‘Starting that day and through Sunday, July 16, ESPN and ABC will televise a combined 18.5 hours of live X Games coverage, which will also be accessible via WatchESPN and WatchABC to viewers who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. Additional coverage of sports and music will be carried on ESPN3 as well as the latest coverage across ESPN digital platforms, including XGames.com, the X Games app, and X Games pages across YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and more.’
For music fans ESPN3 is noted to be the channel to watch for live performances, but stay connected to their social media for updates.
