Chance set to Headline Lollapalooza 2017 on Saturday, August 5
Chance the Rapper rolls out a classic set of music for NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Third Story and the Social Experiment helped out with vocals, horn, keys and drums.
During the performance Chance the Rapper performed ‘They Won’t Go When I Go,’ originally written by Stevie Wonder. He also showcased a new poem.
NPR reported:
‘More specifically, he wrote a poem in the short time it took him to ride from his hotel in Washington, D.C. to the NPR Music offices. Calling it “The Other Side,” Chance debuted it in the middle of his remarkable set, reading from his notes written out in black marker on sheets of typing paper.’
Chance’s poem dives into his current state of mind. It was encouraging to see him restart the poem after being interrupted.
I personally can connect with his poem.
After decades of being financially deprived in Illinois, Chance and myself see the better life in different parts of the world.
What I take away from his words is that home and happiness is what you make out of it. Happiness will fade, but fulfillment for helping other people never gets old. Since Chance broke out a poem, I wanted to share one as well.

We may not be mainstream, but we defend the same team.
That means we only support those that dream.
Similar to Chance the Rapper’s independent goals, we also dream about dunking on rims setup on ten foot poles.
While I stand on shoulders of a giant, I look across the world to see nothing but dust.
In an era of fake news, it is our values that define us.
During a time that lacks sense, we shine like brilliance.
Chance is a hero to me for producing his own shit.
He never gave up, and he never called it quits.
