Discover New Music featuring Sofi Tukker

Sofi Tukker is an electronic rock duo made up of Sophie and Tucker. They hail from New York City, and performed two sets at the 2018 Voodoo Music Festival.

Their creative genius blend of music translated well on stage during their sunset show. Before the show, I was able to connect with them to talk music.

As I continue to get to know their material more, I find myself getting more connected to the organic talent within the group. It was a treat to be able to speak with them on their upcoming plans.

Sofi Tukker Interview

Q. How is your 2018 going so far?

It’s been incredible! Busy! Invigorating! We’ve gotten to travel the world and create and connect with so many different people.

Q. It appears you have been touring a lot this year. Have you come across any pleasant surprises on tour this year?

So many! We were just in Eastern Europe and couldn’t believe how much our music had travelled and resonated there even though we had never been before!

Q. Yahoo is planning on streaming one of your sets from Voodoo Fest at 8:30 p.m. CST on Saturday. What are your thoughts on live streaming events?

It totally depends on the live stream! It’s definitely different than really being there in the flesh!

Q. What is your history with New Orleans? Is there anything you are looking forward to?

We have only been to New Orleans once really briefly. We are so excited to explore more this time!

Q. Do you believe New Orleans is haunted with all the above ground cemeteries?

Is it??

Q. Aside from ghosts, what is your favorite Halloween tradition?

Probably the candy 🙂

Q. Do you create music while on tour, or does the creation process take place more in the studio?

We are always creating and we are always on tour 😛

Q. In regards to yourself, long-term fans, potential new fans, and other audiences; who do write songs for?

We write songs for ourselves– insofar as we make sure that we love it and would want to hear and perform the music every single day. We trust that if we love it, it’ll probably resonate with others.

Q. What venues in New York do you enjoy to visit to acquire inspiration?

We just played a DJ set at Output and it was really inspiring. We are throwing parties with our collective, Animal Talk, and they have been really wild parties. We always leave, inspired to write music that will make people dance and feel as crazy as those nights feel.

Q. What new projects do you have in the works? Is there anything else you would like to discuss?

We have so many projects in the works! We are finishing up a lot of new music now and are so excited to share soon!

Thank you so much for your time.
