Soul music is at the core of The Juice, a new album by G. Love and the Special Sauce.

The album is blended with a talented list of musicians including: Keb’ Mo’, Marcus King, Robert Randolph, and Roosevelt Collier.

The band released a limited edition run of hot pink vinyl and signed CDs across the United States. Within the record cover G. Love makes the following statement.

“Thanks most of all to our amazing fans around the world who support us through the thick and thin for the past 27 years we will see ya’ll on the road! Thanks for letting us play music for you. Love you all!” – G. Love

As a long-term fan of the group, I feel similar about them. After going through ups and downs, I have always been lifted up by the music. It is an honor to write an album review for a group that has dedicated so much of their life to music.

When I first started hearing tracks from the album I was instantly hooked. The production value was superb. The Juice was recorded in Germany by Greg Haberny, as well as support from Keb’ Mo’ and released on Thirty Tigers.

The album starts off with the self-titled track ‘The Juice’ featuring Marcus King. It highlights the skill set of King on the guitar. The second track on the album is ‘Soul BQue’ with Roosevelt Collier.

‘Go Crazy’ continues the soul music vibe featuring Keb’ Mo’.

My favorite track on the album is titled ‘Shake Your Hair.’ It has all the elements I love about the special sauce.

‘Birmingham’ tells a beautiful story of the moon rising of the Mississippi delta. It features the steel pedal guitar with Robert Randolph.
