Get ready for a raw and emotional journey with rising indie pop act Velvet Rouge! The Philadelphia-bred, LA-based trio led by the captivating Gina Zo has released their debut single, “Lonely Since The Day We Met,” along with a stunning music video. This release marks the first taste of their highly anticipated self-titled EP, arriving on July 26th, 2024.

A Soundtrack for the Soul

Velvet Rouge’s self-titled EP is a sonic tapestry woven with heartbreak and self-discovery. Recorded with the production talents of Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey (known for their work with War On Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, and more), the EP channels the energy of early 2000s pop and 90s rock, offering a raw and unrestrained listening experience.

Each song on the EP tackles a fundamental aspect of life: “Lonely Since The Day We Met” (Earth); “Trial” (Space); “I Don’t Know Why” (Air/Wind); “Shattered” (Fire); and “When Did I Become” (Water). As Zo explains, “This album is my mission to take listeners into the heart of my songwriting, which explores the struggles of every single 20-something – figuring out who you truly are.”

A Band on the Rise

Velvet Rouge’s debut EP features the powerful drumming of Buddy Mazzenga, the driving guitar work of Joe McEnany, and the ethereal piano stylings of Zo’s brother, Tyler DeTulleo. Together, they create a sound that’s perfect for late-night introspection, reminiscent of a soundtrack to your most emotional moments.

This upcoming release follows the success of Velvet Rouge’s 2021 debut EP, Dark Hallways (released under their previous moniker, Zo). The track “All The Things I Could Do” from that EP garnered an impressive 27,000 Spotify streams in just 48 hours. Since then, Zo’s talent has been recognized through her induction into the Recording Academy Philadelphia Chapter in 2022. Later that year, Velvet Rouge solidified their status as a band to watch by being voted Best Rock Band in Philly and receiving the title of “Philly’s Hottest Rock Band” by Philly Style Magazine.

With the release of “Lonely Since The Day We Met” and the impending arrival of their self-titled EP, Velvet Rouge is poised to make a major mark on the music scene. Get ready to be swept away by their raw emotion and relatable lyrics, all wrapped up in a sonic package that’s both nostalgic and undeniably fresh.

“This song reaches into the undeniable feeling of dread when you realize you never loved someone you are with. They never gave you what you needed – and in reality you’ve been with them because it was the easy way out – instead of coming to terms with the fact you’ve been lonely since the day you met them.” – Gina Zo

Velvet Rouge will hit the road starting May 31 with a stop in Montreal on June 6 and summer festivals including Ladybug Music Festival, Beardfest and Musikfest plus shows in Los Angeles, Philly and New York. For tickets, visit, www.velvetrougeband.com/tour.
