Twisters, the exhilarating sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Twister, has taken over theaters Worldwide.
My partner and I attended a screening of the movie within a Cinemark and was able to see the movie in an XD theater and seating with D Box interactive chairs. Hannah gave it a 9.8 and I rate it at a strong 9.5.
As we were watching the movie, I caught myself having fun and strapping in for a wild ride within a movie theater. There were points of symbolism, but overall, it was heart-racing fun.
In addition to the fun, there was an educational aspect to the film. The director went to school for meteorology. It drives the question, what role do humans have with controling the weather and environment?
The film follows Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a storm chaser haunted by a past encounter with a tornado. Lured back to the Midwest to test new tech with her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos), Kate finds herself facing a deadly superstorm and a media-hungry rival storm chaser, Tyler Owens (Glen Powell).
A New Generation of Storm Chasers
The film introduces a new generation of storm chasers, venturing into the heart of tornadoes to collect vital data. This scientific twist adds a layer of intrigue to the classic disaster movie formula.
A Touch of Nostalgia
While not directly connected to the original film, Twisters pays homage to its predecessor. Bill Paxton’s sons, Jett and James Paxton, even make a cameo appearance, a nod to their father’s iconic role in the 1996 film.
