Record Store Day 2024 is taking place on April 20, 2024, and this special release was among the highlights of the event. Record Store Day is an annual celebration of independent record stores, offering exclusive releases and reissues to support the continued existence of these vital cultural institutions.
I’m currently in Waco, Texas and stopped by my local record store called Spin Connection. The albums I picked up today was the Gorillaz and the Noah Khan releases. My partner is a big fan of Kahan and I am a diehard Gorillaz fan. I’ve picked up a lot of Gorillaz vinyl.
Gorillaz – Cracker
Island
The original release of Cracker Island was good, but I am loving the six additional tracks that is packaged with the limited release.
Gorillaz’s Cracker Island has been a significant success for the virtual band, and this deluxe edition offers fans an opportunity to own a piece of their musical legacy in a unique and tangible form. With only 8,500 copies pressed, the release is sure to become a collector’s item, especially given its limited availability and the inclusion of previously unreleased material.
This exclusive offering features six additional tracks that have never been available on physical formats before, alongside brand new album artwork by the band’s co-creator, Jamie Hewlett.
With Coachella happening this weekend, I wanted to share a throw back to last year with a feature of the Gorillaz and Bad Bunny from the Crack Island record.
Noah Kahan – I Was/I Am
Noah Kahan’s 2021 sophomore album, ‘I Was/I Am,’ is being reissued on limited-edition blue vinyl for Record Store Day 2024. This album showcases Kahan’s unique blend of vivid and powerful songwriting, which has earned him a reputation as a homegrown phenomenon in the music world. The blue vinyl edition offers fans a chance to own a piece of Kahan’s musical journey in a format that pays homage to the vibrant spirit of his work.
