The 2016 Iowa Caucus will be held on Monday, February 1. Residents in Iowa will collectively cast their support for the candidate they feel best fit to be the next president of the United States. 99 counties will gather votes from the 1,681 voting precincts in Iowa.

Vox has put together an easy to view guide to learning more about the Iowa Caucus itself. Scan over their context, and browse over the Huffington Post polls for the 2016 Iowa Caucus.

The Democrat polling is showing a close race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. The Republican field is being dominated by Donald Trump.

After Trump showed his inability to debate with other individuals by boycotting the Fox News debate recently; his polling numbers rose close to five points. I am not an advocate for Fox News, but any valuable candidate should be able to debate on any stage at anytime.

Our country continues to need a leader that can communicate with a wide range of people from different cultures. Trump continues to show poor communication skills overall. It will not help our foreign relations having a leader that alienates so many people.

His lack of experience in the political industry is also a major issue. Without proper experience, he lacks the ability to properly handle the responsibilities of being president without having experience as a governor, senator or a high ranking political position.

Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and the other Republican candidates have put in years of work and experience in the political industry. I’m more concern with finding out more on their viewpoints, in comparison to watching a reality television character.

The Democrats will face off in a three way battle for votes in the 2016 Iowa Caucus. Martin O’Malley hangs in with less than %5 of the polling votes, but he is continuing to campaign along with Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton is familiar with Iowa, and has been working hard to build a connection with the people in the state. Her campaign focused in the area during the early points of her officially announcing her candidacy for the 2016 Presidential Election. She was unable to knock off President Obama in 2012, but her passion and political experience will be hard to beat in 2016.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, is from Burlington, Vermont, and is a man with a vision. His political campaign has been groundbreaking and historic in a political sense, as well as a humanitarian, environmental, and has helped transition to a logical progression in politics.

Sanders continues to move to a head-to-head fight with Clinton for the Democrat nomination. Their political debates have been weak thus far, but the Iowa Caucus is an excellent event to get the focus back on the politics, plans and projects the candidates want to implement as president.
