The Hollywood Reporter continues their roundtable discussions with an expert panel of directors that left their mark on the big screen in 2015.

This roundtable discussion included: Quentin Tarantino (‘The Hateful Eight’), Tom Hooper (‘The Danish Girl’), Alejandro González Iñárritu (‘The Revenant’), Ridley Scott (‘The Martian’), Danny Boyle (‘Steve Jobs’) and David O. Russell (‘Joy’).

The open Q & A format gives an opportunity for the directors to share their personal experiences on set and behind the camera.

“This was like rock climbing without a rope. Once we established the rules of the film, the language, and the vision we wanted to achieve. We couldn’t get out of that. You know what I mean. You cannot change, and say ‘ah lets go to a blue screen.’ Because it would collapse. So, we were in the middle, and there is no way back. Like when you are rock climbing, you go up, or you die.” – Alejandro González Iñárritu

Stephen Galloway hosts the live discussion with the most talented minds in filmmaking. One element that I suggest changing is making a directors cut, that is extended. An hour is a good amount of time, but these roundtable discussions allow industry leaders to give invaluable advice on the art of cinema.
