The Brazos Nights concert series brought the heat to Waco this past weekend with phenomenal performances by Lukas Nelson, Big Boi, and Dwight Yoakam. Held at Indian Spring Park from April 5-7, the event drew a large and enthusiastic crowd eager to experience electrifying live shows from national touring artists.
Setting the Stage on Friday
The atmosphere crackled with anticipation on Friday as the opening act, Band of Horses, warmed up the crowd. The band played a mix of indie rock with a splash of alternative country. They got the crowd ready for Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson.
We decided to bring our dogs to the show and relaxed across the river. The weather was ideal for a live music event. It was around 70 degrees at night. Two people that were walking could also overhear the music from Lukas Nelson, stopped to my partner and I and said, “do you know who that sounds like?” We responded, “it does sound a lot like Willie Nelson, but this is his son, Lukas.” The crowd was so respectful and delightful to engage with during the weekend.
Main Event Magic on Saturday
Arrested Development got the people on their feet Saturday. The hiphop flavor added some soul the festival grounds. DJ Z-Trip increased the BPM and blood flow in the crowd. As the sun dipped below the horizon on Saturday, the stage lights roared to life, and Big Boi took the stage to a thunderous ovation. Launching into their set with, the energy was palpable.

A Night to Remember Featuring Dwight Yoakam
Sunday evening was a testament to the talent and ability from Ty Myers, Kaitlin Butts, and Dwight Yoakam. Brazos Nights once again delivered a winning performance, solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for live music in Waco.
We arrived to the festival grounds on Sunday around 7:00 p.m. Kaitlin Butts and her band were scorching hot under the afternoon sun. The crowd continued to pack in as they performed.
Dwight Yoakam took the stage to the largest audience of the weekend. People gathered together to see his live performance.
After his set, there was a parade with a live band, and following that, the crowd experienced a drone show.
