Chicago Fine Art, Sculpture & Architecture | Virtual Tour

Hand sketched art at MCAC on Saturday, November 1.

A group of colleagues from Southern Illinois University Carbondale visited downtown Chicago this past Saturday, November 1 to explore and experience downtown architecture, sculpture and art. After taking a walking tour we stopped at Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago to see the latest art pieces. The Mirror Room was one of the groups top art installations at MCAC. They had a David Bowie display, but did not allow photographs. As a photographer, this was a deal breaker. If you are a diehard Bowie fan, it would be fun to explore the interactive presentation they have available through 1/04/15.

We headed over to Millennium Park before the short walk to the Art Institute of Chicago. The material at the Art Institute had some modern art, but mainly had historic pieces from the 1800-1900s. It was the first time I was able to see a Picasso in real life. The institute had a room full of Monet’s and my favorite piece, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte — 1884,1884–86.

Stream music by Emancipator below as you coast through the photo gallery. Watch a quick video by the Art Institute on how to restore art on YouTube.
