Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, and Frank Grimes Visit Springfield for Treehouse of Horror XXVII
Fox, FX and Gracie Films will be premiering the 600th episode of The Simpsons, “Treehouse of Horror XXVII,” this Sunday at 8/7 p.m. CST on FOX.
- Featured guests include: Drew Carey, Donald Fagan, Sarah Silverman and Judith Owen.
Matt Groening continues the longest-running animated comedy series with a special milestone episode featuring new characters, as well as past favorites returning such as Frank Grimes. Based on the preview coverage it looks more like the ghost of Frank Grimes, but with The Simpsons being a fictional-based cartoon, all bets are off with the Treehouse of Horror.
This year the show is featuring a special virtual reality look at the ‘couch gag’ with Google VR. The show will release the immersive clip along with the 600th episode on Sunday evening. Users will have to download the Spotlight Stories app from Google Play to access the video.
Fox has noted that this episode will create a dilemma of a drought in Springfield. The Simpsons has used parody of mainstream films to create humor for decades. In Treehouse of Horror XXVII, Mr. Burns plays as a ruler in a Madmen meets Hunger Games-style battle for water rights. The show plays on real world issues and layers it with dry humor.
