The California Wildfires Get Relief with Rain, but the State Also is Experiencing Flash Flooding

Flash Flooding In Southern California Taking Place from Santa Barbara to San Clemente California continues to get hit hard with serve weather conditions. As predicted by the Farmer's Almanac, we reported in late December that California would experience rainfall, but we did not foresee the flash flooding issues. This rain does help distinguish the wildfires that plagued Southern California during the end of 2018. As climate change becomes more severe, the need to become more aware on how to protect ourselves becomes even more important. In the case of flash flooding ready.gov reports: Avoid walking or driving through flood waters.

The Farmer's Almanac Predicts That the Los Angeles Area Will Experience Rain in January 2018 The California Wildfires have now become the largest in the state's history. One of the few elements that will heavily decrease these wildfires is rainfall. According to the Farmer's Almanac online, they are predicting that rainfall will take place in Southern California during the first week of January. In addition, they also note that rain will occur during the last two weeks. The Farmer's Almanac reports accurate data 80% of the time. In contrast, The Weather Channel is showing no signs of rain to take place

‘Extreme Weather’ by National Geographic Becomes Reality with the Oroville Dam

National Geographic and Sean Casey worked together on an environmental documentary titled Extreme Weather. The project has been released in IMAX theaters, and has a 3D viewing option. The beautiful piece of work captures the beauty within nature, as well as the destruction it can cause globally. Two of the topics they cover is global warming and climate change. The documentary does an excellent job of displaying the differences in weather patterns in correlation to climate change. Fracking Creates Record-Setting Earthquakes in California & Oklahoma

Environmental Tide in Favor for a Ban on Fracking The people have spoken. Fracking causes earthquakes. And with people, I mean scientists, geologists, journalists and academics all agree, hydraulic fracturing/fracking has not only caused more frequent earthquakes in Oklahoma, the United Kingdom, but also in California as well. The problem is now pushing Oklahoma lawmakers to take a stand. The New York Times recently reported: "On Monday, the state Corporation Commission asked well operators in a Connecticut-size patch of central Oklahoma to reduce by 40 percent the amount of oil and gas wastes they are injecting deep into the earth.

The Porter Ranch Gas Leak Negative Effects on Climate Change

It has now spewed more than 4.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas into the atmosphere. According to the Los Angeles Times, crews are drilling a relief well to seal off the damaged one, with work expected to be completed by late February.
