Gem and Jam Adds Sparkle To Its Lineup With Artist Additions
Gem and Jam Festival, taking place in Tucson, Arizona from January 25th – 28th, released its second and final wave of artists today. Artist additions include Big Wild, Papadosio, Sunsquabi, Head for the Hills, Earthcry (of Papadosio), Dynohunter, Templo, Lapa (of Emancipator), and more. Previous to this announcement, Gem and Jam 2018 already boasted an incredibly stacked lineup including two nights of STS9, two nights of Lettuce, Greensky Bluegrass, Emancipator, and a collaboration between members of the Disco Biscuits and Break Science called Breaking Biscuits. LouFest Music Festival hosted over 60,000 attendees for their eighth year in St. Louis on September 9 and 10. This year they relocated to a new section of Forest Park to nearby The Muny Theater. The festival hosted local talented, national acts, and international bands on three stages. In 2017, the event sold over 30 percent of tickets to attendees outside a 100 mile radius of St. Louis. Farmers, musicians and the general public combine today for Farm Aid 2017 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. The event has sold out of tickets with 23,000 attendees, but guests can still dial in for the live stream on YouTube. In addition, listeners can tune into SIRIUS XM Radio. Song Exploder and Google Present A Virtual Reality Project that Goes Inside Music
Drop the beat with an interactive music project hosted by Google and Song Exploder. Users can try out a new 3D workspace that interacts with the different tracks and instruments within a song. Song Exploder took their podcast of deconstructing songs, and brought their attention to detail with an open-source platform hosted with Google. They use WebVR and spatial audio to create an immersive online experience. GRAMMY award-winning musicians share their music including acts: Phoenix, Natalia Lafourcade and Perfume Genius. A lot of sunshine is on tap this weekend in St. Louis for the 2017 LouFest Music Festival. The festival has made a slight shift to the location with the stage area now being stationed away Central Fields, and moved to the Upper Muny Grounds. I am looking forward to celebrating LouFest once again this year in Forest Park, but in a new section of downtown St. Louis. Experience the 2017 Solar Eclipse in Virtual Reality with YouTube 360
Visitors from all over the globe gathered across the United States on August 21 for the 2017 Solar Eclipse. Google has been working hard to provide unique views to this special event. In additional to a YouTube 360 video, they have put together a documentary, and have been working with independent data scientists to create a collection of photographs spanning coast-to-coast during totality. Over 1,300 citizen scientists captured moments of totality with their cameras. The project was focused to find out more on the sun’s atmosphere.
