Last year, we went to check out Lil' Dicky, Matt & Kim and a few others. Overall, for an evening event, a condensed lineup on Thursday will keep people fresh going into three full days of music. St. Augustine is known for being the nation’s oldest city, having been founded by the Spanish in 1565, but is quickly gaining a reputation for having one of the funkiest festivals around. Lettuce and company hosted the 2nd annual Fool’s Paradise this past weekend in the historic town of St. Augustine. Last year the festival proved to be a welcoming place for funky collaborations, tons of dancing and getting to meet lots of artists; this year was all that and more. The festival hosted two impressive headliners with 2x nights of Lettuce and a solid Joe Russo’s Almost Dead set

Editorial: Breaking The Fourth Wall with YouTube

The term known as the 'Fourth Wall' is defined as the space that separates a performer or performance from an audience. As a media outlet, media producer, media buyer, media manager, and media consumer I wear several hats when producing original material. In a recent CNBC article, I found out that Spotify will pay producers $7.00 per thousand plays on their platform in comparison to YouTube's $1.00 per thousand plays. When I look at it on a direct comparison I see a major inequality. When I take it a step further, Fortune reported in December 2016 that Spotify is on track to

Watch Live Sets from Ultra Music Festival featuring ZEDD, Steve Aoki, Afrojack

By |April 3rd, 2017|Categories: Music News|

Ultra Music Festival took place recently in Miami from March 24-26. International level electronic dance producers joined together to share the hottest music in grand fashion. The event sold out in advanced, but they did offer a live stream that we shared during Ultra 2017. Now we look back at the best sets from the weekend. Personally, I connect with Steve Aoki's music the most. His beat structure and dedication to his craft are two of the main reasons his music resonates with me so much. Tiésto threw down an impressive set. Watch back over the madness from Ultra

Streaming Music Sales in the United States on the Rebound

The music industry has gone through some major changes since 1997. Before the Internet reached mass market, consumers would go to central record stores, produced by large-scale corporate record companies, and buy copies of albums for sale. Once Napster hit homes across the globe in 1999, music went from being controlled by a few record companies, to having thousands of independent labels rise from the ashes of the fallen major labels. As indie musicians took control of their music, they also took control of the financing and advertising their creative work. Overall, a majority of these startup record labels

Dance and physical exercise are ways to keep your body in tune, flexible and adaptable. It is important to balance and treat our minds, body and spirit. NPR's social science correspondent Shankar Vedantam goes over some of the benefits connected

March is Women's History Month, and Record Store Day usually takes place in the following month of April. Women have carved out sections of independent music within different genres. They continue to push the boundaries of our expectations. Recently we lost Sharon Jones, but her soul and music lives on. The history of her music continues to thrive. Record Store Day is set to release a special early recording of Jones performing with E.L. Fields and The Gospel Wonders. 2,500 copies will be available. Additionally releases include: Dance Mix by Madonna, rare demos by Stevie Nicks on the album Rarities, Dolly Parton's
