Band of Skulls, based out of Southhampton, is currently touring to support their latest album, By Default on BMG Records. The band's North American tour is kicking off tonight at the Royale in Boston. Their latest record was produced by Gil Norton, with former recordings done with: Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Patti Smith. Band of Skulls recorded the album at Rockfield Studios near Monmouth in Wales. By Default showcases the band's raw talent. Moby Launches Circle V Festival in Los Angeles
Moby, artist, musician and activist, has recently announced that he will be headlining the Circle V Festival at Fonda Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on October 23. The event is focused on raising awareness to vegan food, animal rights, and healthier dietary options. All of the food severed at the festival will be vegan, and all proceeds will be going to Mercy for Animals. Moby will closing down the music section of the event taking place from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00. Sundance Institute Explores Cinematic Virtual Reality with the Jaunt VR Residency Program
The Sundance Institute has recently added new virtual reality projects to the Jaunt VR Residency Program. Daniel Arsham, Yung Jake, and Lily Baldwin & Saschka Unseld are set to showcase their work in a six-month program designed to aid artists with breakthrough technology, virtual reality and immersive storytelling. The program will provide artists with new ways of delivering narrative through cinematic virtual reality and will have the opportunity to receive a grant to make their virtual reality short films. Recently, state officials have gave the green light to a pilot program including piezoelectric crystals that will be installed on several freeways. The crystals generate electricity by a form of kinetic energy as automobiles drive over the roadway.
