Gem and Jam, the eclectic festival celebrating music, art, and rare gems and minerals, is returning for its 11th year on February 3-5 and is anticipated to be better than ever. This year, Gem and Jam will be held at the Pima County Fairgrounds, a 640 acre venue set in the desert just south of Tuscon. Election 2016 has been by far the most dysfunctional presidential election in recent history. After the election, it is only fitting to have a former reality television star become the 45th President of the United States following months of abusive language. The day started off hotter in comparison to the other three days with less clouds and more sunlight. We were lucky to have an overcast for most of the weekend. Overall the weather was spectacular. My day kicked off with bluegrass from The Travelin' McCourys. The lineup to the band looked like it might have changed since the last time I had seen them in 2012.

Guests, vendors, artists and musicians gathered once again on Saturday to celebrate the end of summer. The Spirit Lake area provided room for a wide range of creative talent to showcase their skills in costume design, wood working, lightening, painting, yoga, mediation, music, slacklining, juggling and hula hooping. Suwannee Hulaween officially opened the festival gates to guests with three days passes. On Friday the festival hosted live entertainment featuring: Karl Denson, Gramatik, The String Cheese Incident, Future Rock and many more talented musicians. It marked my first time covering the event with Tony. My primary goal was to capture the event with photos and film, but with such an expansive festival, I wanted to help him out with the context and background on the live performances. Hulaween 2016 Hosts the Most Wicked Pre-Party in Camping Music Festival History
4 stages, 24 total acts, including EOTO, Marco Benevento, a late night Greensky Bluegrass show, and 2 sets of Umphrey’s McGee. That’s what you call a Pre-Party at Suwannee Hulaween! Needless to say the bar was set high early in the weekend. Marco Benevento was the first of many to funk up the Amphitheater stage during the extra warm afternoon. EOTO & Friends As always EOTO helped get this party going on Thursday, but taking the stage somewhat earlier than last year and being joined by Umphrey’s McGee’s guitarist Jake Cinniger and Break Science’s Borahm Lee.

The Tribeca Film Festival is hosting their virtual arcade at the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center during the first three weekends of November. Major Lazer and Flume to Headline Air + Style in Los Angeles
Air + Style 2017 has announced their dates and performing acts featuring Major Lazer and Flume headlining the event at the Los Angeles Coliseum on February 17 & 18. Additional performers include: ZHU, Chromeo, Atmosphere, YG, TV On The Radio, Vince Staples, Russ, Louis The Child, Vic Mensa, St. Lucia, and Marian Hill. The event will host two stages and 20 live acts. Snowboarders will showcase their fearless skill set with a 16 story jump at Air + Style. Yonder Mountain String Band Hits the Road with G. Love
Yonder Mountain String Band has recently announced tour dates for their upcoming Winter 2017 tour. The concerts will feature venues across the United States, and will showcase music by G. Love and the Special Sauce, as well as The Railsplitters. On Thursday, January 19 the tour will open at The Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana. The band will travel to St. Louis to The Pageant the following evening. G. Love will add to the tour starting on February 8 in Orlando, Florida.
