The rush to capture the upcoming solar eclipse has the United States centerstage for this monumental event. Many spectators will want to capture the solar eclipse with their smartphone cameras. To achieve the best results, it is best to have a solar filter to protect your eyes, as well as the photograph. It will be smart to plan ahead to have a solar filter ready. Supplies will get short closer to August 21. Currently, the Craft Shop within the Southern Illinois University's Student Center is helping photographers put together solar filters for cameras. Uber and Lyft Arrives in Carbondale, Illinois
Two of the biggest ride sharing companies, Uber and Lyft, have recently begun providing service in Carbondale, Illinois. The city of Carbondale has amended part of ordinance to allow Uber and Lyft to operate, but that amendment does not take place until April 1. This has resulted in fewer drivers on the road in March. With it being St. Patrick's Day, I hope the city would be comfortable for drivers to work on this holiday. After April 1, the two companies will have service widely available in Southern Illinois. The doors opened at 8 p.m. and the Way Down Wanderers performed from 9-10 p.m. Their traditional bluegrass sound reminded me of the Henhouse Prowlers. Both bands showcase the Chicago bluegrass style, and I enjoyed listening to their approach to live music before the Jeff Austin Band got ready to go.
